Apple News: Watch Steve Jobs compare the Mac to the invention of the telephone in this video not seen since 1984
Harry McCracken tracked down this video from the launch of the Macintosh that hasn’t been seen since 1984. It turns out there was a second ‘launch demo’ a week after the original launch at the shareholder meeting and the videographer forgot he had the video of that (woops!) in his garage. The audience this time wasn’t wasn’t Apple shareholders but actually members of the Boston Computer Society and the general public, which made for a different type of presentation. The quality and tone of the video is often much different than the one given a week earlier at the Flint Center on the De Anza College campus near Apple’s then HQ.

Next time you’re at a pro sports game, car race or rock concert, take a look at the cameras the professional photographers are using. Guess what? They’re not taking pictures with their phones. I’ve always assumed that there’s a reason for deliberately hauling six pounds of equipment around one’s neck. Probably because you need a big camera to accommodate a big sensor, the “film” in a digital camera. It’s very simple: Big sensor = better photos. A big sensor can absorb more light. It makes possible sharp photos with better color in low light. Less digital “noise” (random speckles). And with the right settings, a big sensor also makes possible a large aperture, which gives you that delicious, professional-looking blurry background.

Photography News: Basic Still Life Photography Tips
Backgrounds – Keep it simple! Plain, crease free backgrounds are a good place to start then you can always add a few extra bits of fabric or scarves, draping them over the background or table if necessary. Composition – Don’t rush setting the scene, take your time to make sure it looks right, moving objects around until you can get the best composition you can. Think about it in terms of triangle that are higher at one end and taper off. Use items that differ in size, colour and add different textures to your shot. Try moving your camera around too as just moving it a few inches to either side might make all the difference to the shot.
